Interviews

Sometimes I meet interesting people or hear about interesting ideas I would like my readers to know about. Over the years I have done a few random interviews with people.

My favorite of all is the Numismatourist, Howard Berlin, who wrote a book about money museums, which was a great resource throughout my travels. I had the great fortune to meet him a couple of times, and he agreed to do an interview with him.

Not much after I started this blog, Michael van den Heuvel contacted me, and I learned about his book, the World Square Coins, which he was very kind to send me in an electronic format so I could easily read it. I asked him about his book and his research.

One day as I was searching the internet, I came across the blog of Rajeev Prasad, a numismatist and blogger from India. I found his research fascinating, so I asked him about his blog.

When the first, and so far only Australian braille coin was released, I contacted the Royal Australian Mint for more information. I learned interesting things about this coin.

Years before I started this blog, I met Ole Sjoelund through a coin forum, who among many things researches and documents coin variants. I asked him about his work, but where this interview is unique is that he explained variants in a way that didn’t require any vision.

I have always been interested in coin museums, and many accommodated my request and allowed me to touch some of their artifacts. But one of the most interesting ones was the coin petting zoo at the Lawrence University, which actually encourages all people to touch their coins. Unfortunately I was not able to visit them in person, but I had a conversation about it with Professor Beth Zinsli and Professor Adriana Brook.
